We know the first year of life can have a big influence on a child’s success in the years that follow. That’s why teachers in your child’s Infant classroom provide a loving and nurturing environment as they lay the foundation for learning. This includes literacy; communication and vocabulary skills to help your infant better express their needs; gross motor skills and sensory development; and emotional well-being.

Health & Safety

Our school is committed to high standards of safety and cleanliness as we create a caring and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Requiring any children or staff with respiratory illness symptoms or fever to return home and stay home until fever free for at least 24 hours
Frequent disinfecting and sanitizing of high-touch toys
Frequent handwashing by children and staff, which is embedded in our curriculum and daily staff protocols
Training teachers on common signs of illness in children, and placing signage in every classroom to keep signs of illness top of mind
Daily laundering of crib sheets for infants; for older children, individual cots and blankets are provided for each child and laundered weekly
Ensuring appropriate teacher-student classroom ratios
Continuous health & safety training for our staff, including first aid and CPR certification
Maintaining an up-to-date and customized Safe School Plan posted in all classrooms for easy teacher access

Infant Teacher

Hi, I’m Alexis, but people also call me Lexi. I have worked with infants, toddlers, and preschool. I’m excited to get to know all the little ones in my class and watch them grow. When I’m not at work, I love arts and crafts and spending time with my miniature dachshund named Baby. I also love to travel and go shopping. My favorite places to travel are Japan and Mexico. I’m so grateful to be part of the Primrose family!

Hello, my name is Pauline Ongolea. I am Polynesian and born and raised in San Jose with my 2 sisters and 1 brother. My family and I are huge 49er fans. My favorite part of working with kids is watching them grow, try new things and discover their unique personalities. My goal when working with kids is to create a safe, fun, and healthy environment. I am looking forward to joining the Primrose School of Evergreen team!

Wonder Program - Support Teacher

Hello, I’m Betty! I recently graduated with a BA in ChAD and I am currently pursuing my master’s degree. I have gained valuable experience working with children through various volunteer roles and practicums. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new food spots, indulging in milk tea runs and catching the latest movies. I’m excited to join Primrose School of Evergreen, where I look forward to engaging with the children and contributing to their growth as a valued member of the team.

Noggin Joggin': Smooth Books

During circle time, our infants were invited to feel a variety of smooth texture books while also practicing being fair. The teacher read a book, then passed around the book to gently rub it. When everyone was finished with their turn, they discussed what being fair means by taking turns.

We All Belong!

Our infant classroom explored the theme of belongingness by learning about babies from all over the world, facial features and discovering more about themselves and their friends. 🌎👶🏼 They proudly created a classroom book filled with adorable pictures and learned the joy of peek-a-boo by sharing photos of their classmates — what a delightful way to build connections! ❤️

Harmony and Heart

During music circle, infants enjoyed “Hickety Pickety Bumblebee” as we warmed up our bodies by gently moving different body parts with smooth, flowing motions and using shakers. As we listened to the rhythm patterns, we continued moving and echoed the beats together. Children’s sounds, movements, and responses were joyfully echoed back, creating a playful musical dialogue that supported connection, listening skills, and self-expression. 🎶🐝

Nurturing a Love For Reading

Reading time for infants is integrated through out the day as it focuses on nurturing language development, while reading, singing, and talking, while using books with pictures and textures. Teachers provide interactions during feeding, diaper changes and play time to provide one-on- one interactions to help our infants understand language and conversation.

Thumbs Up: Sensory Play Bubbles

Our infants anticipate the bubbles as the teacher says, "Ready, set, blow!" They participate in cruising or pulling to stand to chase the bubbles around the classroom. The younger infants love to see the bubbles be blown from different angles and directions as they begin to visually track the bubbles with their fingers.

Exploration with colors!

Infants explored a world of colors, textures, and creativity with open-ended painting activities. 🎨🖌️ Watching their tiny hands dip into paint and feel different textures is truly magical. These playful moments not only enhance their sensory development, but also inspire their imagination!

Sign Language in Infants

To encourage language development, Primrose Balanced Learning embeds sign language into our daily activities. The children learn how to sign words and phrases through sign language cars and meaningful one-on-one interactions with the teachers.

Infants Exploration with Weather

In the infant classroom, the friends explored with Benjamin the Bear and discussed the weather. We talked about the seasons changing and how we wear different clothes for the weather.

Strength and Balance: Lift and Control

The infants participate in physical activity indoors where they are placed on their stomach and encourage them to lift their head to one side and hold that position while focusing on a toy. This activity is great for infants to show stamina and continuing movements for short periods!

Story Time

During story time, the infants learned about farm animals. They discussed the different types of animals, colors of the animals and the sounds they make. Then we sang Bingo and the babies swayed their bodies to the song!

Babies exploring the great outdoors!

Fresh air, sunshine and new sights stimulate their curious minds and help develop their senses. Whether it's feeling the grass under their tiny toes or watching leaves sway in the breeze, outdoor play encourages movement, coordination and discovery.
